What is recorded here

Four shallow ridges cut across the level ground in Ballincool, each about two metres long and eighty centimetres wide. Local memory assigns them to the Famine, naming the dead before written proof appears. They lie thirty centimetres below the grass, small enough to step over but heavy enough to stop a person mid-sentence.

On a level landscape. Four E-W grass-covered ridges (L c. 2m; Wth 0.8m; H 0.1m) are regarded locally as Famine burials. Cashel (RO015-043001-) is c. 170m to the WNW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
