What is recorded here

Ardscull holds a trapezoidal moated site forty-six metres long, its water boundary gone but its shape still written in the uneven growth of the field. It stands near Ardscull Moat, part of a longer line of defended or excluded places along the same local landscape. The surrounding field system may be medieval or post-1700, and that uncertainty gives the site more life: a moat, a road, a boundary and a field may all have belonged to different moments in the same ground.
