Ahaneboy holds a fulacht fia, a burnt-stone cooking pit from the ancient Irish landscape. The landowner levelled the mound in 1966, erasing its shape but not its purpose. Hot stones dropped into water would have boiled food or bathed bodies, turning ordinary days into ritual heat. The flat ground still remembers the violence of fire and the patience of water.

This record was formerly classed as a 'fulacht fiadh' in both the SMR (1990) and the RMP (1997). The monument is described by the 'Castleisland District Archaeological Survey' - March 1990 - as a 'mound of burnt stone' which had been levelled by the landowner in 1966 (SMR file).
