What is recorded here

One of two surviving cross bases in an Agha graveyard, the regular pyramidal granite block still holds its tapering mortice, waiting for a vanished shaft. It is not a monument to pride but a socket for devotion, shaped without waste for the weight of wood and belief. The second base stands nearby, suggesting a small chapel or a divided burial ground where two lines of prayer met. What is missing is the cross itself, taken or broken, yet the stone remains clear about the shape of what once rose above it.
