Iskymeadow in County Armagh still holds the buried line of a Rath, though no wall or gate remains visible to mark its edge. The land may have worn the structure flat, or the structure may have never risen higher than a shallow ring of packed earth. Walk the meadow at dusk and imagine the shape beneath your feet: a small defended place, a household, a boundary drawn in soil before it was drawn on any map.
