RATH in Cleggan, County Antrim, is an earthwork from the early Christian period, preserving the shape of a boundary long after the hands that built it disappeared. The chamber of Cleggan still stands nearby, carrying the same name into living memory. A rath is a marker of pride and warning, a circle drawn around what a people valued enough to defend.
