What is recorded here
Altikeeragh holds a rath, a fortified place from the early Christian period. It is not a vague dot on a map; it is a shaped remains, large enough to have resisted forgetting and important enough to be scheduled. The land around Derry keeps many such markers, but this one enters the story because it survived recognition. A rath is a boundary made visible, a claim that people lived, defended and believed there.
