Mentioned in local legend. In ancient times, a field near Malone Upper held a rath, a fortified place where people lived and watched the land. The field has no visible marker now, but the name preserves the shape of a lost home.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH: FORTH FIELD (unlocated). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
