Rath Castle in County Limerick has vanished beneath a living farmyard, its ghost visible only when viewed from above. The bawn wall still marks part of the castle outline, but rooftops and fields have swallowed the rest. What was once a defensive stronghold is now an ordinary working farm, the castle reduced to a shadow under ordinary life.

Rath Castle was likely built in the late medieval period, possibly by a local Gaelic lord or Anglo-Norman family, though specific builders remain unidentified. Its importance lies in its historical role as a defensive or residential site, with remnants providing insight into medieval settlement patterns in the region.
