R.C. Chapel

Church

What is recorded here

On a rise, on the W side of the Cloch River, on the valley floor. According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 189), ‘the first church in the present graveyard of Clough was built in the 13th century’, however, he continues to say that, ‘No trace of the original church of Clough now remains’. The present RC church dates to the 18th century. The only evidence of a medieval church at this location is the reference by Carrigan. It is not visible at ground level.
