What is recorded here
Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, c.1930, with inscribed “SE” initials.
This cast-iron post box, which is still in use, is an important feature in the landscape and is prominently sited in the village. The raised "SE" initials and lettering is of considerable artistic merit. Its age and survival, however, together with its associations with Ireland as an emerging free state are of great historical and social importance.
