Post box in Lackanascarry has Queen Victoria’s initials cast into its front. I’m told scratching mine into public property would be vandalism, which is a fierce disadvantage to be born at when all you’re missing is a crown.
Wall-mounted cast-iron letter box, erected c. 1890, with VR insignia cast in relief. Manufacturer's name on base of box: ' W.T. Allen & Co. London'.
This post box is significant due to its detail and design. It is a notable example of technical skill in the production of cast-iron goods.
