What is recorded here

Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, c.1930, with inscribed "SE" initials.
This cast-iron post box, still in use, is an important feature in the landscape and is prominently sited in opposite the Catholic church at Milltown. The raised "SE" initials and lettering is of considerable artistic merit. Its age and survival, however, together with its associations with Ireland as an emerging state are of great historical and social importance.
