Cast-iron post box, c.1890, with V.R. insignia and crown, set in brick wall of railway station.

This post box is a good example of early mass-produced cast-iron work, with raised features, which enhance the design. The royal cipher and crown motif are of special interest as a physical reminder of Ireland's relationship to the British Empire.
