Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, between 1881-1901, with raised "VR" royal cipher. Set into painted rendered wall.
An appealing post box representing an early surviving artefact of mass-produced cast-iron ware. Raised elements identifying the artistic design value of the composition include the royal cipher of particular importance as evidence of the period when Ireland formed part of the British Empire.
