Wall-mounted cast-iron "lamp box" post box, between 1939-84, with "P7T [Posts and Telegraphs]" monogram. Set in rendered boundary wall.
A "lamp box" post box representing an interesting example of mass-produced cast-iron work making a pleasing, if largely inconspicuous visual statement in a rural street scene with embellishments identifying the artistic potential of the composition including the Cló Gaelach or "Old Irish Lettering" defining the monogram of the Department of Posts and Telegraphs (fl. 1924-84).
