Port Eliot Castle in Cornwall was built in the 13th century by the Eliot family, who held it for centuries and remain a prominent local landowning family. The castle is important as a historic seat of the Eliot family, later Earls of St Germans, and as an example of medieval and later architectural development in Cornwall.
