Pobbles Bay features a sea cliff composed mainly of Carboniferous limestone, formed around 340–320 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. The area is notable for its coastal erosion processes and the exposure of fossil-rich rock layers, typical of the South Wales Coalfield region.
