PLATFORM RATH reused as TREE RING in Shannock Green

PLATFORM RATH reused as TREE RING

What is recorded here

Marianne measured the first ring and laughed because the platform rath returned a ridge instead of a gap. The men laughed with her, not at her, until the survey marker fell across the line she had drawn. Shannock Green kept both shapes: the old ring and the new ridge.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH reused as TREE RING. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.; MODERN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
