Milling machines stripped the field open and revealed a narrow ribbon of tightly packed brushwood, perhaps the ghost of a path or platform buried beneath the bog. The swathe stretched from northeast to southwest, disappearing under the living peat at one end as if the earth had swallowed the rest. Someone may have walked that line when the land was young, pressing branches into mud to keep their feet dry. The machine took the path back, but the shape remained, stubborn and straight, waiting to be remembered.

A band of tightly packed brushwood, along with some twigs, was located on the field surface was being milled (exposed area 1.3m NE-SW; 0.6m NW-SE). Approximately ten pieces of brushwood (diam. 0.02-0.03m) were present and all were aligned NE-SW. The band appeared to extend into the bog at the SW end and may have been intact under ground level beyond that point. The evidence suggested that this was likely to be the remains of a platform.
