Killydonoghoe holds a tiny cremation pit from 2895 BP, marking one adult on a gentle Cork hill. Two more burial pits and a possible Bronze Age house lie within half a kilometre, suggesting a small settled community rather than a lonely event. The bypass works revealed what the land had kept since before recorded history.
On a gently sloping hill in undulating hilly terrain, a pit-burial was uncovered during archaeological monitoring on the N8 Glanmire-Watergrasshill Bypass. The burial consisted of the cremated bone within a pit (diam. 0.35m; D 0.12m). Analysis of the bones found that they represented the remains of one adult. One sample of cremated bone provided a radiocarbon date of 2895 ± 40 BP. Two other pit-burials (CO064-168----; CO064-166----) are located 260m and 520m to the S, respectively. A possible Bronze Age house (CO064-167----) is located 300m to the S. (Sherlock 2003e, 46; 2005b, 51, 59, 88)
