Pier/Jetty in Portdrine,river Shannon

On the N bank of the Shannon estuary adjacent to the townland of Portdrine. Described by O’Sullivan (2001, 305) as a possibly medieval ‘stone-built slipway or jetty running down foreshore from rock outcrop across foreshore to channel, oriented NW-SE, 32m long, 0.5-1m high, 3m wide. Located c. 30m W of creek which flows out to the S of Portdrine. Built of regular limestone slabs laid as a double kerb with a rubble infill, possible robbed out for construction of later sea wall.
