Pier, designed 1847; built 1851, on an L-shaped plan with coursed or snecked rock faced "Old Red Sandstone" battered walls having lichen-spotted rock faced cut-"Old Red Sandstone" coping supporting mooring posts. Set extending into Waterford Harbour.

A pier erected to a design by Barry Duncan Gibbons (c.1798-1862), Engineer for Piers and Harbours with the Board of Public Works (appointed 1846), representing an important component of the mid nineteenth-century built heritage of south County Wexford.
