Castle, unclassified

What is recorded here

Cloghatrida, a castle in County Limerick, vanished from the exact location but survived in 16th and 17th century references, suggesting it once stood tall enough to be remembered across generations. The land may still hold a buried wall, a collapsed gate, or only the shadow of a room that no longer answers knocks. Forgetting the castle does not erase the shape it left behind.
There are references to a castle in this townland in 16th and 17th century documents (Westropp 1906-7, 215) but its exact location is no longer known. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of Upload: 7 August 2012
