Owenduff Bridge

Single arch rubble stone road bridge, built c.1820, over Owenduff River. Comprising segmental arch with rubble stone voussoirs and gunnelled soffit springing from exposed bedrock on south-west side and having roughly dressed limestone string course to north-east elevation. Roughly dressed limestone buttresses flanking arch, with string course above, radially arranged stonework to spandrels, rubble stone parapets and roughly dressed stepped profile stone block abutments.

This bridge, similar to that to the north-east, is a fine example of early nineteenth-century engineering that uses locally sourced stone, blending the bridge into the countryside. The exposed bedrock has been used to create the springing for the arch. The visual effect of the stone arch is complemented by the radial arrangement of masonry to the spandrels.
