What is recorded here

Situated in low lying rough, wet pasture. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS map and on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a circular-shaped tree-planted enclosure and not as an antiquity. Monument described as a roughly circular-shaped area (diam. 21m) defined by an inner bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank. The inner bank is wide and low and the intervening fosse is wide and shallow. The outer bank is also quite low. There is a possible entrance at S. The interior is saucer shaped, whereby the ground slopes down from the perimeter toward the centre. There is no evidence of any structures. Monument is visible today as a circular-shaped tree-planted earthwork on Digital Globe aerial photography. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 18 December 2019
