What is recorded here

Situated on the SE side of a slight rise, in gently undulating and hilly pasture with good views to E and S. Monument described in 1971 as a roughly D-shaped area (dims. 35m N-S; approx. 33m E-W) enclosed by the remains of a substantial bank of earth and stone with traces of an external fosse with possible entrance gap (Wth 3.2m) at S. The bank has several slight disturbance gaps and the fosse is best preserved at S. A modern laneway skirts the bank at NW, where it obscures the fosse, and leads to an abandoned house outside the bank at W. The interior has a gentle ESE-facing slope and the surface is uneven with slight scarps and depressions. Monument described in 1977 as levelled with no surface remains visible. Levelled ringfort barely visible today as a subrectangular-shaped cropmark on Digital Globe aerial photography. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 11 September 2019

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
