What is recorded here

Situated on SE facing slope of a long undulating ridge in a wet grassland, with good views from SE-SW. Ringfort (WM012-103---) 200m to SW. Unclassified castle (WM012-114---) 450m to SE. Cropmark of levelled monument barely visible on Digital Globe aerial photograph taken November 2011. Upstanding monument described in 1970 as a rectangular shaped area (approx. dims. 25m NW-SE; 30m NE-SW) enclosed by a well preserved earth and stone bank with steep external which is deepest on the E and W sides. There is an entrance gap (Wth 1.9m) and causeway across the fosse (Wth 2m) at ENE. Traces of a sub-rectangular shaped structure are visible in the SW quadrant of the interior which possibly could be the remains of a house site. Outline of moated site clearly visible on aerial photograph taken 1968 (CUCAP AVO058). See attached plan of monument surveyed and drawn by the ASI.
