What is recorded here
Situated on low ridge running N-S on well drained pasture-land with stream 30m to S and motte (WM002-019----) 110m to NNE. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a small square-shaped field transected by a field boundary at S running E-W. A square-shaped area (dims. 35m NNE-SSW; 35m WNW-SSE) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 3.4-10m) mainly reduced to a scarp at S and shallow external fosse (Wth 5-6m; int. D 0.4m; ext. D 1-2m) best preserved ay E with causewayed entrance (Wth 5.2m) at N located off centre to E. The interior has a slight slope from NE-SW. The bank is highest on the NE corner where it has a definite raised or rounded profile. This artificially raised area extends along the crest of the bank to the N and slightly so to the E. The corners are fairly sharp particularly NE & NW. The bank is very defaced on the S side where the fosse is barely visible. The fosse on the S side is continued on as an old field ditch to the E & W of the monument.
