Holy well

What is recorded here

At edge of pasture field, on verge of marshy area. Still in regular use, especially on 15th August and 25th March. Well is stone lined and approached from E by stone steps. Overhead is arched recess containing statue of Our Lady. Surrounding this is low concrete wall with balustrading; these were erected in 1950s (Ó Danachair 1955, 205). a saint, possibly Saint Cianan or a local holy figure, though the identity is not clearly recorded. The well is associated with healing traditions and is visited regularly, particularly on 15th August and 25th March, suggesting links to seasonal or saint-related festivals.
