What is recorded here

Situated on a small hill, in undulating pasture, with good views to W, restricted by higher ground in other directions. Monument described as a roughly circular-shaped area (diam. 41m) enclosed by an inner bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank. The inner bank has several slight disturbance gaps. The shallow fosse is visible from N-NE and from SW-WNW. The outer bank is visible at N, E and S. The fosse and the outer bank are absent at W where the ground slopes downwards away from the site. The entrance (Wth at top 6.5m; Wth at base 2.1m) is at NE. The slightly uneven interior rises from the perimeter to a relatively flat central area. A rectangular house site (WM026-060001-) is visible in the centre. A possible Man-made underground passage trench was noted in 1979 in the NW quadrant. See attached profile of monument surveyed and drawn by the ASI. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 02 October 2019
