Oran Fort is an irregular earthen ring on a Galway ridge, large enough to swallow a house but old enough to predate most human memory. Its bank still stands beside a cutting ditch, though modern gaps and a field wall have bitten through the shape. A hidden passage lies beneath the northeast soil, waiting for someone brave or foolish enough to crawl into the dark. The fort does not need explanation; it only needs witness.

On a prominent ridge in rough pastureland. This irregularly shaped rath (c. 72.5m NW-SE; c. 45m NE-SW), in fair condition, is defined by a bank and external fosse. Several gaps in the bank appear to be modern. A field wall cuts across the monument at NW and S. A Man-made underground passage (GA095-103001-) lies in the NE quadrant of the interior.
