Aghadoe church still holds an ogham stone broken into three pieces and repaired with cement, embedded horizontally in its rebuilt chancel wall. The name BRRUANANN or BRRENANN remains along its edge, preserving a person or lineage from before the church took its present shape. Whether this is the stone once standing nearby or the other one lost from the church corner cannot be known, but the wall has kept one version of the story intact.

The site of an ogham stone is indicated on the 1939 OS 6-inch map, c. 50m SSW of the ruins of Aghadoe church (KE066-016001-). An ogham stone (L 1.5m; Wth 0.7m; T 0.18m) is embedded horizontally into the the upper surface of the rebuilt S wall of the chancel of the church (see KE066-016009-). It is flanked to its E and W by a crucifixion plaque (KE066-016007-) and an architectural fragment (KE066-016008-) respectively and is broken into three pieces and repaired with cement. The ogham inscription is along the N edge of the stone, as it is embedded. Macalister (1945, 237, no. 242) read the inscription as 'BRRUANANN' (McManus (1997, 121) read: BRRENANN) and gave the measurements of the stone as '5ft 6in x 10in x 6in' (1.67m x 0.25m x 0.15m). It cannot be ascertained if this is the stone which originally stood SSW of the church. Another ogham stone (KE066-016010-), now lost, was found lying in the NW corner of the church in the early 19th century. However, it may be that these two are one and same stone. This stone has been studied as part of the ‘Ogham in 3D’ project undertaken by the School of Celtic Studies, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
