What is recorded here

There is an ogham inscription on a lintel at the extreme E end of the original passage of the Man-made underground passage (RO022-057029-), know as Oweynagat ('the cave of the cats'), which is part of the larger complex of monuments at Rathcroghan. It has been interpreted and tentatively reconstructed as: [MA]Q RẸG[A]S MU[COI]. A second ogham stone (RO022-057030-) is in the same Man-made underground passage. (Ferguson 1864-6, 155-70; Rhys 1898A, 230-2; Rhys 1898B; Knox, 1914, 35; Herity 1983, 132; 1987, 138; Waddell 1983, 33; Condit and Moore 2003) This is a National Monument in state ownership: No. 473. This stone has been studied as part of the ‘Ogham in 3D’ project undertaken by the School of Celtic Studies, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
