Windele found a square stone in the Coolowen ringfort in 1819, marked with twenty-five scores on one angle but never read. He returned sixteen years later to discover the stone had been broken into building material. The forgotten name disappeared with the fragments, leaving behind only the loss of a moment when curiosity failed to act.

According to Macalister (1945, 81, no. 78), this stone was discovered by Windele in 1819 in the fosse of a ringfort. He described a stone, square in section with twenty-five scores on the angle, but did not read it. When he returned, sixteen years later, the stone had been broken up for building material.
