What is recorded here

Inside the perimeter of a rath (RO015-051002-) at the SW is a sandstone upright (dims 0.45m x. 0.5m; H 1.05m) which has a weathered ogham inscription on one angle. It has been read as: CUNOVATO (Macalister 1914, 139; Hayward 1955, 211) or CUVEATA (Beirne 2000, 25), but these readings cannot be confirmed due to the extent of the weathering. A second (uninscribed) standing stone (RO015-051003-) is 1.5m to the S inside the rath and in 1985 a second ogham stone (RO015-051004-) was discovered in the bank which became dislodged and is now lying on the ground outside the rath. This is a National Monument in state ownership: No. 650 This stone has been studied as part of the ‘Ogham in 3D’ project undertaken by the School of Celtic Studies, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
