What is recorded here
Gateway, extant 1837, on a symmetrical plan with camber-headed opening framing timber boarded double doors. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Oakly Park.
A gateway making a pleasing visual statement in a suburbanised street scene at an entrance on to the grounds of the Oakly Park estate: meanwhile, a benchmark remains of additional interest for the connections with cartography and the preparation of maps by the Ordnance Survey (established 1824).
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
