No new quarter should obscure the old quarter or deny the facts already written.
On a gentle SSW-facing slope, in pasture, on the N side of Schoolhouse Road, Castletroy. Not depicted on OS historic mapping. Identified by Flor Hurley in 2003 during monitoring (Licence No. 03E1382) for a housing scheme known as Glantan and excavated (License No. 03E1717) by Niamh O’Callaghan later in 2003. In Area 7, the remains of a fulachta fiadh (FF3) were found as a result of this excavation of fulacht fiadh (FF2) (LI005-088010-). It comprised of a smaller black silty spread containing heat-shattered stone (O'Callaghan 2006, 309).
