In flat open farmland with patches of exposed limestone pavement. Aerial reconnaissance in November 1987 (ASGAP 384:28-32, 34) revealed an extensive series of field walls covering an area c. 1000m N-S by c. 600m E-W. A large number of fields of varying sizes and shapes were enclosed by collapsed stone walls. When inspected in 2008 numerous collapsed drystone walls (Wth 1.75m-2.7m; max. int. H 0.3m; max. ext. H 0.3m) were evident across a large field subrectangular field (dims. c. 500m N-S; c. 450m E-W) delimited by later drystone walls. The fields immediately to the E and S had been reclaimed. Two possible hut sites (GA057-164001- and GA057-164002-) were noted. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
