Nirevale

Detached five-bay two-storey rubble stone stable building, c.1880, retaining original aspect with elliptical-headed carriageway to left ground floor, series to square-headed carriageways to right ground floor, and two-bay single-storey recessed range to west. Pitched slate roofs with red clay ridge tiles and no rainwater goods on rendered rubble stone eaves. Random rubble stone walls with lime mortar and cast-iron tie plates. Square-headed window openings with no sills and timber lintels. 2/2 timber sash windows. Elliptical-headed carriageway to left ground floor with granite ashlar voussoirs and wrought iron gate. Series of four square-headed carriageways to right ground floor with timber lintels having segmental relieving arches with squared rubble stone voussoirs, and timber boarded doors. Set back from road in grounds shared with Nirevale with section of random rubble stone boundary wall to forecourt of range to west having wrought iron gates with split curved finials.

A well-proportioned substantial outbuilding that has been very well maintained to present an original aspect and which is distinguished by the use of elliptical- and square-headed carriageways on the same elevations. The outbuilding is of particular importance for its contribution to a substantially-intact middle-size farm holding. Sundry items of interest, including the wrought iron gates to the forecourt to west, enhance the visual appeal of the site.
