Newtown Castle (in Ruins) — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Newtown Castle stands in ruins within Newtown, County Clare, its stone frame stripped of roof and purpose. The exact chamber layout and original builders have faded from local memory, leaving only the skeleton of a defensive structure behind. What remains is a hollow shape in the landscape, waiting for someone to imagine the hands that built it and the lives that moved through its missing rooms.

Newtown Castle was built in the 17th century by the Blake family, who were significant landowners in the area. It is remembered for its historical association with the Blake dynasty and as an example of early modern Irish domestic architecture.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
