Newton Bay features a sea cliff composed mainly of Jurassic limestone, approximately 150 to 190 million years old, formed through the accumulation of marine sediments. The area is notable for its well-exposed coastal geology and is part of the Dorset Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized for its significant geological and paleontological value.
