Nellie M is a motor vessel lost off County Derry in 1981. The water took her at six metres deep, but men brought her back, renamed her Ellie, and sent her out again. The sea gave up one of its own without keeping a secret, and the ship went on living under a new name.
The official Northern Ireland wreck record identifies Nellie M as Motor vessel. It was lost in 1981. Recorded depth: 6m. Recorded condition: Vessel raised, towed to Londonderry to discharge cargo. Repaired, renamed 'Ellie', returned to service.
