Mull, Aros Castle

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Mull, Aros Castle as Castle (medieval), Hall House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Aros Castle on Mull was built in the 13th century by the MacDougall clan, Lords of Lorne, and later held by the Macleans. It is important as a strategic stronghold in the history of the Western Isles and as a rare surviving example of early medieval coastal castle architecture in Scotland.
