Mound in Corracreigh

On a rise towards the top of the SE-facing slope of an E-W drumlin ridge. Circular grass-covered mound (diam. 10m; H 1m) with old trenches (Wth 2m) through it, dividing it into quarters. Locally known as the Four Hills, there is a tradition that it is the burial place of a bishop, martyred for his faith and buried in four separate mounds. Neolithic circular mound, likely a ritual or ceremonial site, dating to the 4th–3rd millennium BCE. Its division into quarters by old trenches suggests possible ritual significance or later modification.
