What is recorded here

Monument appears to be that of a natural glacial hillock with no archaeological features visible situated on top of an esker ridge. Potential monument identified by T. McDonald as part of an archaeological survey of the Clonmacnoise region in 1987 (McDonald 1987, 19). Described by McDonald as 'a mound encircled by a low bank on OS as a circle, no occupation evidence visible' (McDonald 1987, 19). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 23 May 2011
