What is recorded here

A large mound of earth and stone situated in the field directly E of the car park at Clogher Strand. It measures 6 to 7m E-W x up to 2m high and is very uneven, possibly due to quarrying. The field in which it is located has a very uneven surface with numerous ridges and hollows. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 219. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 4 August 2013
A possible Neolithic or Bronze Age burial mound; its significance is obscured by damage and lack of detailed archaeological investigation.
