Monument, Skreen More

Situated immediately W of a holy well (SL019-006001-), on the N verge of a modern roadway. This monument consists of a tall, square pillar (H c. 3m; Wth. 0.85m) constructed of cut limestone, and topped with a triangular stone-built cap. It stands on a stepped stone plinth. At the upper portion of the S face of the pillar there is a Latin inscription carved in relief which translates as 'Eugene McDonnell, Vicar of this district, had me erected 1591'.
