Moated site in Curraghleigh (dolla Par.)

Situated on a flat break near the bottom of a NW-facing hillslope with two moated sites (TN027-114, TN027-115) nearby to SSW. A rectangular moated site (dims. 26.7m N-S; 35.6m E-W) defined by a poorly preserved bank (Wth 2.3m; int. H 0.76m; ext. H 1.48m) which has been greatly reduced in places but is visible throughout. The bank is composed of gravelly clay with larger stones protruding. Only a slight suggestion of an external fosse remains at the SW corner (Wth 3m; D 0.22m) with no external fosse visible along the W, N and E sides. The SE quadrant has been truncated by the road - a low bank survives but this is not on line with the E side. Some thorn trees are growing on the bank and there is dense scrub in the NE quadrant. There is a gap (Wth 1.2m) near the NW corner. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary.
