What is recorded here
In gently undulating wet pasture on the NE side of a relic field system (TS065-046----). Identified as a rectangular enclosure on an aerial photograph (Bruff 66, 2044). Rectangular slightly raised area (dims. 28m N-S; 40m E-W) enclosed by a low earthen bank (int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.6m; Wth at top 1.8m; overall Wth 7.8m) with an external wide flat-bottomed fosse (Wth at base 3m; overall Wth 4.35m; D 0.4m). The earthen bank encloses the site on the S, W and N sides and is absent along the E side where the moated site is defined by a scarp (Wth 4m; H 0.5m). The fosse is best preserved along the S and W side being very shallow along the N and W sides. Modern, now disused, field drains link to the outer side of the fosse at the SE corner, toward the W end of the S side, at the SW corner and midway along the W side. The interior undulates very gently and is clear of overgrowth.
